Summer Reading List 2011

The English Department has chosen the following novels for summer reading -

• Students who will be in 7th or 8th grade next fall should read Handbook for Boys by Walter Dean Myers.

• Students who will be in grades 9 through 12 next fall should read Black Swan Green by David Mitchell. 

• The entire school, grades 7 through 12, will read American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang.  It is a graphic novel and a finalist for the National Book Award.  

The above works are available in a wide variety of formats (paperback, eBook/Kindle, audiobook, etc.) and students should read or listen to the books in the way that best suits their learning style.  Students should complete the summer reading before school resumes in late August.
