Academics: Educational Adventures
Beyond the Classroom
Travel abroad, volunteer to help elementary school children in San Francisco’s Tenderloin, learn yoga, dance and meditation, or participate in an adventure travel experience.
These opportunities and more are offered to students during our week long, annual Educational Adventures week in April.
In September, Orinda Academy students select their Educational Adventures class from a catalog of mini-courses that have been carefully planned by our faculty. We also welcome parents to participate in the longer distance trips.
The courses are all outlined in our Educational Adventures catalog (PDF download). Students and families indicate their first, second and third choices via an online registration form. The courses and trips are then balanced to give as many students as possible their highest priority choice. Course/trip assignments are announced at the end of September.
Worldwide Learning
Educational Adventure classes span the globe from those that take place at home to faraway places such as Baja, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Galapagos Islands, Japan, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Hawaii and many more. This exciting week shows students that learning stretches beyond the classroom, expands their horizons, and can create life-changing experiences.
