College Preparatory School
for Students Who Learn Differently
Orinda Academy is a college preparatory school for students in grades 6 through 12 who are bright and creative but might learn differently. We have been serving a diverse population of Bay Area students since 1982.
Our students have the capability to do college preparatory work, but in some cases haven’t succeeded to their potential in school, quite often because of learning differences such as dyslexia, auditory processing problems, ADHD or other specific learning issues. Orinda Academy teachers know how to teach students with learning differences so that they can achieve academically in a college prep curriculum.
The nurturing learning environment at Orinda Academy is extremely effective for students who learn differently. Our emphasis on organization, time-management skills and self-advocacy means students develop self-reliance, self-esteem and confidence. Graduates are confident and academically prepared when they enter college.
We are a unique school in San Francisco’s East Bay. During their years here our students become well-rounded, are challenged academically, and experience music, computers, athletics, drama, dance, art, as well as our Educational Adventures program which provides opportunities to explore new interests and travel the world.
